Round Review

Penalty denies Mike a deserved podium after brilliant drive to 2nd

In the World Championship, Faster Than Speed was back on the World Championship podium on its 15th FSR season, at least for a few days. Mike Partington delivered an astonishing drive, with a perfectly executed 3-stop strategy, even briefly leading the race and making great use of strategy to undercut and climb to 2nd. From there, he resisted a late charge from Brljak to finish in a fantastic 2nd place! Absolutely brilliant!
Unfortunately, the Origin Front Row Racing team decided that since they failed to beat us on track, they would try to do it off-track. Armed with a group of people who check every single lap of the drivers that finished ahead of theirs to see if they can get them penalised and gain positions in the stewards office, they found out Mike went wide by millimetres on 3 more ocassions in 61 laps than the rules allow, without gaining any advantage. The protest on Mike's result eventually resulted in an undeserved 30 second penalty, which droppped Mike from 2nd to 6th place.
Norbert also showed strong pace, running as high as 4th before falling victim of a track design flaw which broke down the suspension on his FTS-P15, obliging him to retire from the race.
