In the FSR World Championship, Hungarian driver Norbert Leitner, the team's first race winner since 2009, climbs from Ace to Formula SimRacing's top step in 2015, in what will be his first full FSR WC season, after taking part in two races as reserve last season.
Dutch driver Patrick De Wit, after a difficult 2014, started the year by winning the 2015 FSR Winter Series as he prepares to take part in his sixth season for the team! The team's most-successful WC driver will race with number #21, the one he took to Faster Than Speed's first WC race victory in 2007!
Compatriot Marcel van der Linden will not contest a full FSR WC season in 2015, but remains an important part of the team as its third driver, ready to assist in testing and to substitute Norbert or Patrick as reserve if necessary!
Norbert Leitner (#20): "I am very happy to be given the opportunity to participate this season in the FSR World Championship for Faster Than Speed. It will be a great challenge to compete with the fastest guys out there. Last year, I had the chance to take part in two World Championship races. At Silverstone, I managed to get into the Top 10 in Qualifying, so I am confident about this new season! My target for this year is to finish in the Top 10 as frequently as possible and to run clean races."
Patrick De Wit (#21): "I am glad to continue at Faster Than Speed for the 2015 season! Although some health issues are not allowing me to prepare 100%, I'm looking forward to driving after winning the 2015 FSR Winter Series. This year, I will be also using number #21, the one I had when taking the team's very first pole position and the great memory of winning at Turkey back in 2007!"
In the FSR Ace division, FTS features Mikko Suokas, twice a race-winner and FSR Pro championship runner-up in 2014. The Finn driver makes the jump to the Ace division this season. He will be joined by Guillermo Prieto, the quick Spaniard who showed great results last year and in the FSR Winter Series. The lineup is completed by Giuseppe Marconi, the experienced Italian driving his tenth season for FTS, and Great Britain's Thomas Mundy, who showed strong pace last season.
Christian Smirnoff (Team Manager): "We are looking forward to the start of our 15th FSR campaign! Our 2014 was about a revolution we started planning from early in 2013, and hard work allowed us to return to victory. 2015 will be about evolution, about continuing to improve and to battle at the top. Our driver lineup mixes young talents with experience, and they are all working and pushing together to maximize results, without ever forgetting about the team spirit. I would like to thank all FTS drivers for their efforts and very specially, Ernesto De Angelis for his incredible art on the FTS-P15! I hope you enjoy our presentation!"
The 2015 FSR season kicks off next weekend at Melbourne, Australia. Our FTS-P15 contender is ready for the challenge! The 2015 season has arrived!
